Witch Fest & Bloggers Night Out

Even though I've lived here for 5 years, there are a handful of "Utah" things that I am kind of embarrassed to admit that I've never done/seen. Like I've never been to Lake Powell. I've never hiked the Y or been to Timpanogos cave. And I've never been to Gardner Village ...until the other day!

I had heard that Gardner Village was a great place to take pictures, that they have cute shops and boutiques there and that its somehow transformed around Halloween into some sort of Witch Fest.

All of that is true, but it was so much better than I imagined. They really go all out on the decorations. There are a dozen of fake witches on display, along with real ladies dressed up as witches and walking around chatting up the visitors. It was pretty magical. My kids would love it.

The very first shop we went into was Down To Earth. Holy beautiful furniture. I drooled from one end of the store to the other. Their furniture is high end, unique and just the right balance of traditional and modern. Oh I would love a house full of their furniture and decor. The other shops were great, and I won a gift basket from Storybook Nook, which my girls loved!

My Craft Channel put together a cute video so you can see the witches and some of the night's highights. You can see my waist at 0:51 and when I won my gift basket at 2:41. My big debut! haha

It was such a fun night. It was kind of surreal to be surrounded by so many of the big bloggers in such a magical place, and everyone was so nice and friendly. The food was yummy and I came home with a big bag of swag from Riley Blake, Eric Dowdle, Miss Mustard Seed, My Craft Channel and a few others. Just a fantastic experience overall!

I'm hoping the be able to bring my girls back up there before Halloween. Those witches are worth the drive!

  3. It is so funny, but my husband and I just started talking about moving to Utah in the future the other day and I found your blog yesterday and have been reading through old posts and see you live in Utah. I'm just wondering how is Utah compared to where you used to live? We live in the Northeast and I know the one thing I would miss would be the ocean, but other than that I think i'de be ok. Maybe you can write a How to Move to Another State haha ;)

    1. My dad was in the military, so I've lived LOTS of places. I'm pretty sure my perspective on moving is far from normal! I like a lot of aspects of living in Utah. We get all the seasons, but they're not super extreme. There is great shopping and restaurants, and the people are nice and typically Christian. It is VERY family friendly, as far as events and stuff to do. I think you'd like it! :)

  5. Hopefully you have taken the time to put together Eric's puzzle from your "bag of swag." This is a great new video he just did about the worth of the individual as a follow up to his popular "No Missing Pieces" http://youtu.be/IgzTRwBKHeY
