Poofy ponytail tip

Kylie

I posted awhile back about how to boost your ponytail with 2 little bobby pins, and it has been quite popular on Pinterest. It does the trick, but I’m not going to lie, the bobby pins end up digging into your head, and it hurts after awhile. But with my heavy hair, I’ve been wanting to figure out how to get my ponytails to not looks so …much like a horse tail.

I recently saw this pin on Pinterest (follow me!), tried it, and LOVE the way it works! My hair is so thick and heavy, my ponytails usually sag, even if I tease the crown a bit. But by putting it half up first, it actually stays poofy!

So what you do is tease the crown a bit, and smooth it the way you like it.
Then divide it and put it half up with an elastic band

Tighten the band and poof the top up a bit, if desired.
Then bring the rest of the hair up and secure it all together with another hair elastic

That should keep your pony nice and perky, and comfortable enough for all-day wear.

I have a query. When i tie up my heavy hair in a ponytail, within 20 minutes I get a bad headache from the tension. Could you please suggest what brand of ties or bands you use? Should they be thick to hold my hair? I know I am doing something wrong.

I have the opposite problem- fine, straight and limp hair. I am going to try this; I bet it gives my ponytail a fuller look. Thank you for the tip!
