The absolute best and easiest home made play dough recipe you’ll ever find! Dough is perfectly soft and squishy and stays together. Add glitter for extra fun!
I have made this play dough recipe over and over and over through the years. It is hands down THE BEST. It’s easy to make, doesn’t crumble and it stays soft forever! I made some for our church’s nursery class almost a year ago and its still fresh and soft.
We also love to add a healthy dose of glitter to make it extra fun. And don’t worry! The glitter stays in the dough and doesn’t make a mess at all.
You can also add a couple drops of essential oils to make it smell yummy like my Balance Play Dough.
For a really fun activity , I set up a play station for my girls with fresh dough, small bowls of glitter, birthday candles, cookie cutters, toothpicks, plastic utensils and fun cupcake liners. The girls have a blast playing “Bakery Shop.”
How to make homemade play dough
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tsp cream of tarter
- 1/4 cup salt
- 1 cup water
- 1 Tbs vegetable/canola oil
- food coloring
To make the dough, combine all the ingredients in a medium pot over med-high heat. Stir continually until mixture thickens and dough ball starts to form. Once mixture has turned into a solid mass, remove from heat and cool slightly before kneading.
Add glitter and additional food coloring if desired.
Store in an air tight container and enjoy!
