15 Awesome Gender Neutral Christmas Gift Ideas for Kids

Need some awesome gift ideas that work well for boys or girls? These toys would be great “family” gifts, and are a bit more practical than the super-girly or ultra-boy toys.

1. Play-Doh Playset

I’ve yet to meet a kid who doesn’t like Play-doh! This set is a good basic one, with cookie cutters, scissors, molds, and a couple colors of dough.

2. Magna-Tiles Clear Colors 100 Piece Set

These are AWESOME. I first saw them at my daughter’s preschool, and even I enjoyed playing with them! The pieces connect firmly together with magnets, and the variety of shapes makes this set irresistible. Kids love building everything from skyscrapers to barns.

3. LEGO DUPLO Set

In my opinion, MegaBloks are outgrown quickly (and take up a lot of space), and Legos are too small for the toddler/preschool crowd. Duplos are a great investment. We keep them in a big bin in the closet, and I love getting them down once a
week or so and watching my girls (and dad) build all kinds of stuff.

4. Perfection Game

I remember playing Perfection as a kid and having a love/hate relationship with it, I loved the challenge, but was always afraid of the buzzer. This version is for the younger crowd, with only 9 pieces, which makes it more manageable.

5. SIMON – The Electronic Memory Game

Another classic from our childhood. Great for kids with good memories who like a challenge.

6. Tinkertoy 100 Piece Essentials Value Set

Another great building set for imaginative kids. They’ve been updated with plastic instead of wood and easier to snap together pieces.

7. Play Tent or Fort Kit

Tents are a fun space for imaginative play. This build your own fort kit is awesome for letting kids build their own forts and play spaces.

8. Fold & Go Trampoline

My kids love trampolines, and until we invest in a large (hopefully in-ground) trampoline, these mini-trampolines are great for burning off energy.

9. Perler Beads 6,000 Count Bucket-Multi Mix

These melting beads are trendy again, I checked out the Perler hashtag on Instagram and was blown away at the creations! These are definitely a supervised activity, but are great for practicing fine motor skills.

10. Wobble Board/See Saw

This mini seesaw is a great “active” toy, that can be done alone and doesn’t take up a lot of space.

11. Casio SA-76 44 Key Mini Keyboard, Orange

After all the toddler piano/keyboard toys, this is the next logical step for budding musicians. This one has lots of fun options.

12. Melissa & Doug Deluxe Band Set

This little kit is just like music class at school. Your eardrums might not like this set, but I bet your kids will love it.

13. Lincoln Logs Classic Edition Tin

Can’t go wrong with another classic building set.

14. Don’t Break the Ice

This simple game is great for all ages, and easy to understand how to play. Cooties is also another fun game.

15. Conductor Carl 100 Piece Wooden Train Set. 100% Compatible with Thomas the Train.

Kids can’t resist train sets, especially on a table when they’re at playing height. I like this set with all its fun pieces, and its really reasonably priced.
